On Barul

As many, if not most of you may know, one of the side effects of this year’s round of Absgalan (which I will write about at greater length soon) is that my dear, sweet friend Barul has been althesorated. This word, “althesorate” comes from the Absgalarik words “alm” and “thesor”, which mean “thought / sense” and “to lose or diminish” respectively. To say “losing one’s mind” in Absgalarik, you would say “monathesor almen.”

What this means for us, practically-speaking, is that Barul has lost all ability to communicate coherently. He seems to still understand what is being said to him, and usually reacts appropriately, but this could merely be a case of correlation not causation. I am unsure, honestly. He doesn’t seem apt to wander out into traffic, so I’m not terribly concerned for his physical safety, but the Elders have been so… flippant about this. It worries me greatly. All they have offered are hollow condolences, without even a lead on how to go about fixing this. They’ve given up hope before they’ve even tried. Because of this, I have opted to keep Barul as close to me as I can. The rest of the House seems to be just… ignoring him. He is my friend. Our friend. I don’t understand how they could all allow this to happen and sit by doing nothing.

I aim to do everything in my power to keep him safe while he is… like this. I also aim to find a way to reverse this. I have been praying as earnestly as I can, and looking through every tome I can find in the Library even remotely related to the subject, but so far have turned up no leads. I will not give up the search so easily, though.

For his part, Barul mostly just wanders and rambles. It’s… rather sad to watch, honestly. He does still enjoy orange juice, though, so I suppose he has not lost himself completely. Keep him in your prayers, friends. I need all the help I can get.

Absgalari monei ros baan.
